Literature browsing and descriptive analysis methods were employed in this research. Nine piano works included in Country Colours, Volume I were analysed under the titles of makam sequences, chords, chord linking, ornamental notes and makam modulations and they were presented as figures and tables. This study is considered to be important in that it may help researchers and trainers who are specialised in this area to teach, develop and disseminate quartal harmony system; that it is a study which may help the students to understand, perceive and apply the chords more easily in piano education as well as in courses taught at institutions giving occupational music education such as Composing Techniques and Turkish Music Polyphony Education; and that it may pave the way for composing new works based on polyphonic folk songs for polyphonic instruments such as piano and guitar.},author={Gökhan YALÇIN-Özer KUTLUK},year={2012},journal={The Journal of Academic Social Science Studies}}
