The prophet encouraged science and praised being wise in his many hadiths. Thus, in his hadith "The scholars are heirs of the prophets", he expressed that having science is a great honor. To deserve this honor, Muslims endured long and grueling journeys since the early enturies for the sake of being a soldier of the science army. The fact that this hadith that impelled them to make such journeys is the part of a longer hadith requires us researching of its health. Undoubtedly, in the history of hadith science, a lot of effort have been put into the issue of genuineness and constancy of the prophet's hadiths. For Muslims, the state of belonging of a hadith to the prophet is also a first step of understanding it right. On this subject, different principles and rules have been determined in our scientific accumulation collected since the time of the companions of the prophet. Among them, there are principles such as conformity with Quran, the authentic (shahih) sunna, mind, universal Fundamentals, public good. Here in this article, the narrative "The scholars are heirs of the prophets" is investigated in the light of these principles and rules. Besides, during the interpretation of this hadith, it is appeared that some sentences in the longer text should be ascribed to a metaphorical meaning. Very elegant witticisms have been found in the analogies of scholar-moon and worshipper-stars. In addition to these, it is expressed prettily that prophets bequeath science instead of wealth and property. In this article, we have tried to utilize from the early-period hadith and tafsir resources. The results that we have reached within the scope of study, certainly will be more precious in case of integrating with the results of sanad criticism of the hadith that we are studying on. },author={Hüseyin AKYÜZ},year={2013},journal={The Journal of Academic Social Science Studies}}
