Abstract

The energy need has been started to expand in parallel technological developments. The growing energy need has caused global competition and oil/gas resources have been started to seen as a strategic tool. The oil and gas resources, first impending Caucasus and Central Asia, are being served to world market via oil/gas pipelines with consortiums. These oil/gas pipeline projects gain importance since energy is an important raw material source in industry. Caucasus and Central Asia have important sources in terms of gas and oil. The region's reserves are presented to the international market; especially in Europe, by the oil and gas pipeline projects. Energy security and the relations with countries which are on the project route are taken consideration in the making process of project. In this regard Turkey has started to play key role in transporting oil and gas resources from Caucasus and Central Asia to Europe. The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline project is one of the first steps in energy cooperation. Turkey and Azerbaijan are in an effort to increase this energy cooperation with the Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP) in addition to the existing projects. TANAP project, which has been developed in order to meet the needs of Europe and Turkey's natural gas, will further strengthen the Turkey’s energy bridge role.
