Abstract

Comparative Politics is a significant sub-discipline dating back to Ancient Greece. Whereas, its background is quite old, however, majority of the works in this field were published within the period following the Second World War. Comparative Politics, which has continuously developed during the period between the Second World War and now, is still overrated since it provides crucial information regarding the political systems of different countries. It is required to probe many fields such as the political structure, political culture, institutions, historical milestones etc. while examining the political systems of the countries. Resultant of each of these fields constitute the political system. Thus, failure or success in these fields similarly influence the status of success of the political systems. Besides, experiences gained by different political systems while solving certain problems become a significant alternative for other political systems. By this means, results of distresses which will be sustained by countries are predicted in advance and necessary measures are taken thereof. The foregoing issues, which are quite important in terms of providing successful management of countries, are within the scope of the basic research topics of the Comparative Politics. The primary goal of this article is to review the subject matter of this up-to-date discipline and works published thereof. Therefore, initially, subject matter of the Comparative Politics is addressed in this article and then scientists and their basic works, which contribute to the respective literature, are explicated.
