Abstract

The Karaali springs which has been a transition zone fort the tectonic earth movement in the southeast Anatolion region, has an remarkable potential for he healty tourisim. These springs, currently being used as the theraphy for the treatment of several illneses due to their rich mineral contents, can also be used for some medical purposes. There are some good examples of this type of applications such as in Afyonkarahisar, Bursa, Eskişehir. Harran University, Faculty of Medical should also establish such a treatment center in this region. Despite its geotermally heated groundwater potential, chemical content of the spring ant its proxsmity to other touristic places, this resort has ot been introduced enough and therefore revenue from this sector has been limited . We belive that attractivenes of this place may be improved if some supplemantary resorts are built on the adjeacant Tektek plateau. Once the Karali Springs or resorts are well organised and equipped in terms of their utilities and the quality of services people especially from our southern neigbours countries such as Syria and Irak may visit regularly these resorts and this may lead to income increment of the region. In addition, these resorts will also fill a gap in the need of a holiday resort for Şanlıurfa City which has a 600.000 population. İf touristic potantiel of this resort is used effectiwely, it would have a great contribution to the Turkis economy . İf this resort is designed in a geograpcal approach and the guality of sorvices are improved , this place Will probably become a great contributer to the region economy end Turkey olsa Will benefit from this development. This attentivenes will probably change the geographical perspectiveness of our country and prompote it to the global level
