Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the quality of visuals prepared for teaching Turkish as a foreign language in Lale Battery. To that end, the visuals in Lale Battery 1-2-3 such as images, comics, flash card, poster etc. are tried to determine the language teaching proficiencies. In this battery, course book, exercise book, grammar book are included. In this study, typical case sampling was adopted within purposeful sampling methods. As the aim of this study is to determine the visuals in the battery, this type of sampling technique was best suited in accordance with the aim. In this research, document analyzing technique was adopted within qualitative research methods. Data were analyzed by categorical content analysis. The main principle of content analysis is to reach the relationships and notions which are able to explain the obtained data. In this analysis, obtained data were classified in some specific themes. In the data analysis process, a form was utilized named as “Educational tool selecting and evaluation form”, and which was developed by “a directive related to course book and educational tools reviewing and evaluating” and “a directive of Turkish ministry of national education course books and educational tools”. The results showed that Lale Turkish language teaching battery is able to follow the current cases with regard to effective language teaching and technology using.
