Abstract

Today, the European classical music impossible be imagined without string instruments. Because violin, viola, cello and double bass is the foundation of the chamber and symphony orchestra. Violin, as well as other instruments of the violin family was the result of a long and complex process of deploying musical culture and changing social conditions. Organology evidence on the development of stringed instruments show that in the various countries every cultural ethnicity has a characteristic set of stringed instruments. Many researchers connect the the origin of the violin in the areas of of domination the Arab and Byzantine cultures. The fact, that in these areas, such instruments have long been prevalent and from there through the South Slavic countries came to Europe. The appearance of the classical type violin, as well as the development of many genres of violin music, is usually associated with Italy. Indeed, the great Italian masters, great singers and composers of the past have made an invaluable contribution to this process. But many facts point to the early development of folk string instruments in Slavic states. This is evidenced, in particular, found stringed instruments during excavations in the cities of Opole and Gdansk belonging to XI-XIII centuries. The purpose of this work is to study the origin of the violin following the historical path of development, to get historical information about the evolution of stringed instruments of different epochs, to explain why the impact of changes in the external image to which they were subjected.
