@article{2016,title={PREVENTION/INTERVENTION STRATEGIES OF BULLYING IN SCHOOLS: PERSPECTIVES OF SCHOOL COUNSELLOR},abstractNode={The purpose of this study was determine what type of prevention/intervention strategies applied in schools for anti-bullying. 112 school counsellor (58 female / 51.8%; 54 male / 48.2%) completed a survey called “prevention /intervention strategies for bullying”. This research result shows that most frequently used strategies as follows; “communicate and interview with families of bully and victim” and “talking with bully and victim following bullying incidents”. The least used strategies were also listed as follows; “peer juries / court for bullies”, “school wide survey to assess the extent and nature of bullying problems” and “anti bullying training for non teaching staff (e.g. bus driver)”. The most effective three strategy mentioned by school counsellor seems to “support positive behavior school wide”, “creating prevention/intervention policies for school” and “official reporting procedure”. “Zero tolerance policy” and “procedures to avoid contact between the bullies and victims” strategies most frequently mentioned as an ineffective ones. As a result of this study most needed strategies to be developed in schools as follows; “organize training activities for students in order to prevent bullying”, “reating prevention/intervention policies for school” “inform and educate the school staff”. Lack of sufficient support from family is one of the factors that complicate the use of anti-bullying strategies in schools.
