Abstract

Translation is rewriting by creating. The translator itself is the author. To translate is not only to understand the original text so that you can choose corresponding words in the target language, but to write in the target language a text that fulfills the role assigned to it. Writing quality text requires a certain sense of language and written expression. Because to write is to communicate. In written production, there are three stages: planning, textualization and revision. To create the translation text requires a certain writing ability. The text to be translated must be examined in detail with the source text, and correct appropriately to the method, to the theory, to linguistic and to textual peculiarities. Translator candidates must acquire planning and review strategies as translator's responsibility. From this point of view, the prominence of writing in language teaching and translation education is discussed in this study, and a survey was researched on the writing ability of the candidates of the translators in order to raise awareness. Findings obtained in the study were evaluated as percentage and frequency. According to this, it is revealed that the writing ability is important and it is absolutely necessary for the candidate who is an translator to be acquired. He also pointed out that the stages of writing skills are similar to the translation processes.
