This article studies the problems between the film producers and movie theater operators in Turkey as important distribution channels. High production costs in cinema makes distribution channels an important sector for survival of film industry. In 2018 the discussions between the Turkish film producers and movie theater operators reflected in the press proves the missing legislation infrastructure and transparency of the film industry. After the public declaration of the film producers about their decision to postpone the screening of their films based on low percentages and the same income from the ticket sales for the last five years the public learnt that there is no integration of production and distribution making it easier for film production. In 2019 the film producers succeeded in including the regulation regarding fair distribution of ticket sales between the producer and the movie theater operators and cancellation of promotion with the tickets, but the restrictions to promotions accompanying the ticket sales might increase the ticket prices and it can decrease the number of audience. A stable cooperation is needed between the producers and distribution channels.
