OPINIONS OF PROSPECTIVE SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHERS’ VIEWS ABOUT TEACHER PRACTICE COURSE ÖĞRETMENLİK UYGULAMASI DERSİ HAKKINDA SOSYAL BİLGİLER ÖĞRETMEN ADAYLARININ GÖRÜŞLERİ
Purpose of this study is to discover the prospective social studies teachers’ views and experiences on teacher practice course. In accordance with this purpose six open-ended questions were asked the prospective teachers to reveal their views and experiences about teacher practice course through the interview form. Answers from the prospective teachers were analyzed through phenomenological study methods, one of the qualitative research methods. Result of the study indicated that the teacher practice course is beneficial in providing experience. Besides the prospective teachers statements revealed that head-teacher in the practice school did not care them, guide teachers found them insufficient for teacher profession, observer tutors form the university did not help them, the guide teachers interrupted frequently while they were instructing and faculty must be very selective in assigning guide teachers.
