Abstract

An important member of Northern Germany artists, Emil Nolde has formed a unique style with his personal expressiveness. Originally from a region near the border of Germany and Denmak, he received art training in Munich and Paris, but abandoning all types of traditional mastery acquired, he formulated a plain painting technique which can be considered near primitive. In his works he used impassioned colours devoid of object, figures resembling masks and various symbols. With naive and puritan comprehension, he integrated life and art.
