Abstract

Turkey has recently become an industrialised country. However, it is impossible to say that the country has been developed as much as in agriculture when compared to the industry. The agriculture sector has been regarded as unimportant and it is aimed that the ratio of the agriculture has been decreased in economics within the European process. Turkey should never give up becoming a member country in the European Union. The country should try to do its best to improve the industry, the industrialists shoulb be supported and the policies of enlarging the marketing areas should be kept sustainable.Nevertheless, the agriculture sector should never be disregarded besides these efforts. The reasons why the agriculture is not improved are the agricultural policies are wrong and the preference of the products are chosen wrongly.Related to the agricultural activities, it is important to be careful about the climate conditions especially heat, rain ,evaporation and the shortage and the excessibility of water in the soil. Some studies to determine the problem show that some formulas accepted as convinient to the conditions of the country yield very close results to the reality. In this study, the climate types of Boğazkale and Sumgurlu situated on the South point of the Budaközü river valley where there has been a setllement since B.C.3000 have been investigated according to the Thornthwaite and Erinç indis formulae. At he end of the study, it has been seen that the district has a climate type of dry-little moustrious, mild warm(mesothermal),shortage of water in summer and excess of water in winter. When these features taken into consideration,it is thought that the problem can only be solved by irrigation.
