Abstract

Abstract Almost all Muslim scolars are in the opinion that the unique miracle of the Prophet Muhammad is the Qur’an. But the problem discussed among them from the very beginning is the form and the merit of this miracle. In this context a lot of opinion have been put forth. We see that these opinions put forward are focussed on the following concepts or subjects: Sarfa, message of the Qur’an from unseen, its eloquence, its psychologic effect, its richness of content. Every one of these approaches has been critisized on the ground that it is not happened to all verses. Although we can say that the rethoric of the Qur’an and sarfa are valid for all verses, it is not possible that the same position is valid also for other forms of Qur’an glorious style (i’câz). While the Mutazilah had coserned mainly with the sarfa (feature of consicion), the scolars of Ahlu Sunnah had focussed on tne rethorical forms of Consicion. In this paper we tried to describe the emergence of the idea of ‘uniqueness of its style’ and its course in Islamic hitory of thought. Then, we tried to analize the thoughts of Fahraddin ar-Râzi with special referance to the problem of consicion. In this study our main sources are his Works, Nihâyetü’l-Îcâz fî Dirâyeti’l-İ’câz and Tefsîru’l-Kebîr.
