Because it is seen that types of instruments vary according to characteristics specific to geographical regions and performed in different geographical region and music types with name, shape and structure variations. In this study string instruments within the scope of Asia and Europe will be analyzed, and it will be suggested to determine two different methods used for producing sound on strings in the basis of related geography. In general, the bowed instruments in Europe are the members of the violin family. It is produced sound by pushing on the strings with fingertips either in this family or numerous most widely recognized instrument families in Asia. It is supposed that the technique is producing sound by pressing on the strings with fingernail, is origin from Balkans and Istanbul. But the same technique is also used in some geographical regions is far from this region (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tuva and India). In accordance with these parameters, the names of instruments and transition and relation of these names within neighbour culture geographies enable important acceleration to our research dynamic with its subject that has never been analyzed up to now. In our study, string instruments were analyzed throughout Asia and Europe cultural geographies, in the sense of techniques of producing sound on strings with common, similar or different features, determinations were made and it was tried to make suggestions of classifications and methodology. },author={Gözde ÇOLAKOĞLU SARI},year={2014},journal={The Journal of Academic Social Science Studies}}
