Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Core Beliefs Inventory (CBI; Cann et al., 2010). Participants were 223 undergreduate students from Sakarya University. The Core Beliefs Inventory was translated into Turkish by five academicians and the Turkish form was back-translated into English. In this study confirmatory factor analysis, Cronbach alpha coefficients and the item-total correlations were examined. Results of confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated that this scale yielded one factor, as original form and that the uni-dimensional model was well fit (x²= 29.63, df= 22, RMSEA= .039, IFI= .99, CFI= .99, RFI= .95, NFI= .97, NNFI= .98, GFI= .97, AGFI= .94, SRMR= .028). Corrected item-total correlations ranged .44 to .73. Cronbach alpha internal consistency reliability coefficient of the scale was .88. Thus Core Beliefs Inventory can be used as a valid and reliable instrument in psychology.
