Abstract

Modern day Turkish miniature art imitate Ottoman miniature in terms of style properties. This approach is important in the sense that traditional Turkish arts don’t degenerate and are handed down the next generations by asserting a claim as being an entity. Therefore, the current style in modern day traditional Turkish art is considered as successful to the extent that how much it reflects Ottoman miniature art’s style properties. As much as the issue is tried to be discussed studiously and be formed in accordance with specific principles, it is not possible to say that the alleged criterias directs over the current format totally. Because, the intra atelier and out of atelier modern arguments are also important factors in shaping the form. The necessary design knowledge to realise the new applications in miniature art, issue selection, market conditions, art-lover and collector’s demands, abstract and realist form specialities of modern West art, the guidance effort for the traditional artist etc… are crucial among these factors. The number of the artist who produces qualified work of art whose principles are protected in the environment of modern arguments. In this context, one of the prominent modern day artists is Ömür Koç. The artist’s works of art will be needed in representation of this term in the future. It is aimed in this essay that the effects of Ottoman miniature art and the novelty seeking are examined on Ömür Koç’s miniatures which attract attention in the sense of design knowledge, the originality of the topic and general genre features.
