Abstract

In the last decades the change and transformation of the woman pietism in Turkish Society have taken place depending upon various determinants. Being one of the most important of these factors, perceptional differentiation of the religion of the Islamist male agents has a great importance in the rebuilding of the woman pietism. This study has been carried out with a view to figure out how the religious males affect the formation and change of the woman pietism in Turkish Society. Research problem have focused on the perceptional differentiation of the religion of the Islamist male agents and its effect on women being independent of other variables which active in there construction of the women piety. In order for the research question to be analyzed, in-depth interview has been made with seventeen women who have adopted Islam ideology and the data obtained from the interview has been examined with the discourse analysis. Eleven of the women have built their religiousness in line with the trends of the perception of the '80s, but six of them have built the perception of the '90s. These results have revealed in the study: First of all, both Islamist male agents’ prefering traditional values rather than religious ones and their tendency to solve the daily problems with tradtional methods instead of religious ways have brought about a reaction in which the religious woman agents question the male religiousness.
