Abstract

This research is aimed to be made to determine the attitudes of the students towards Physical Education and Sports course who study in Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Dentistry. 84 girls and 60 boys, totally 144 students, took part in the research. Physical Education which is an indispensable component of education, is a supplementary of general education. Contribution of person’s physical, emotional, social and motional development is an undeniable truth nowadays when students form sports as a habit since their pre-school education. Transferring the spirit and culture of the sports to children, young people and next generations aremade by schools and Physical Education course also plays an important role to direct the individual to physical activity. For this reason, it is seen that the maim purpose of Physical Education course programmes is developing positive attitude to Physical Education courses.In our research,for measuring students’ attitude,’ Physical Education and Sports Attitude Measure(PESAM) developed by Demirhan And Altay (2001) was used which has 12 positive, 12 negative, totally 24 items. Students attitude measure points were studied according to various varieties (gender,class,doing exercises during free time,doing sports regularly and having license in a sports branch) and the frequency (f), percentage (%), arithmetic average ( )and standard deviation ( ) of datas were measured.
