The aim of this work is to examine how a global roaming TV series are adapted in Turkey. In the theoretical framework of the work, the global-local relationship is discussed in the cultural context and the phenomenon of globalization and localization are discussed together; television series, as they were considered as a means of representation, examined along with the discussions of globalization-localization. The cultural dimension of the accent has been dealt with by assuming the simultaneity of globalization and localization. Although there are direct or indirect global flows, it is argued that the original local culture never disappeared. In this direction, the research part of the study compares Desperate Housewives and it's Turkish adaption Umutsuz Ev Kadınları, which can be an example of the subject. The reason for the selection of these TV series is that they are very popular in America and Turkey, preparing the appropriate ground for the global-local culture debate through many codes and it is one of the highest ratings among the series adapted in Turkey. While the series were being analyzed, some parts featured in America and Turkey were compared. Text analysis has been used to examine how American originated images and values are localized, how the interpretation is comprised, how differences are made in character creation and whether they overlap with local values. Several cultural codes have been formed within the framework of globalization, localization and global-local culture concepts. Series texts are examined under the titles of characters, family relationships, mutual relationships, sexuality, gender, traditional factors. When the global cultures are articulated in the local culture, they are differentiated due to cultural differences. The global and local cultural displays between the two series are remarkable.
