Abstract

Based on this study, the textbooks which are among the value education studies which are applied in order to educate individuals in the desired direction of society, 24 reading texts in 8th Grade Turkish Course Book prepared by Eksen Publishing, 8 listening texts, 8 free reading texts and 40 text values in the textbook. In terms of education, the values in the texts have been tried to be determined by using the technique of document analysis of qualitative research methods. In the 18th National Education Council of the Ministry of National Education, values for the values education values were taken into consideration and the data were collected and the data were analyzed by content analysis. The analyzed texts were tabulated and the determined values were presented and analyzed on the graph. When the values determined as a result of the analysis are examined in terms of themes, it is seen that the values are distributed evenly to the themes but the number of values is not distributed evenly to the texts. In his textbook, it was determined that love, responsibility and patriotism values and poetry, article and story types were dominant but the highest value was found in poetry types. In addition, as a result of the research, the result of the study is that the textbook is rich in terms of 14 different text types and 35 different values, and it is successful and sufficient to pass the values. As a result of the study, suggestions were made about the area.
