Abstract
Toplumları güçlü kılan ekonomik ve demografik üstünlükleri değil, kültürel birikimleridir. Millet olmanın temel şartı olan kültür, toplumu ayakta tutan tek güçtür. Milli kültürün temel taşlarından birisi de milli musikimizdir. Araştırma, Atatürk dönemi müzik eğitim anlayışını ortaya koymak ve günümüz öğretmen adaylarının bu anlayışa olan mesafelerini belirlemeye yöneliktir. Araştırma, 2015-16 akademik döneminde Dumlupınar Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesinde öğrenim gören sınıf öğretmeni adaylarını kapsamaktadır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre; adaylar, Cumhuriyet döneminin genel eğitim anlayışında olduğu gibi, müziği yerel ve milli kültür unsuru olarak algılamakta, müziğimizin evrensel bir hal alması için kültürümüzden beslenmesi gerektiğini düşünmekte ve müziği toplumu bütün unsurları ile betimleyen bir kültür aktarım aracı olarak görmektedirler. Bu bağlamda yerel unsurlarımızın halk tarafından bilinip zevkle dinlenecek formlarda tekrar gözden geçirilmesi ile eğitim fakültesi öğretmen adaylarının batı müzik tekniği, nota vb. evrensel müzik bilgilerinin yanı sıra yerel ve milli kültür aktarım aracı olarak müzik eğitimi, içeriği ve arşivini kazanmaya yönelik olarak eğitilmesi önerilmektedir.

Abstract
What makes societies strong is not their economic and demographic superiority, in fact it is their cultural heritage. A Culture which is the basic requirement of being a nation is the only force that keeps a society alive. Our national music is one of the cornerstones of our national culture. The study is for revealing Atatürk era conception of music education and determining the closeness to this conception of today’s pre-service teachers. The study covers pre-service classroom teachers studying at Faculty of Education at Dumlupınar University during the 2015-16 academic year. According to the research results; pre-service teachers perceive the music as local and national culture just like in the general educational philosophy of the Republican era and think that our music should be fed from our culture so as to be universal and also they see the music as a medium of culture transfer that describes the society with all its elements. In this regard, local elements in the form known by our people to be listened with pleasure and with revising them again, it is advised that pre-service teachers studying at a faculty of education should be taught to gain music education, content and archives as the medium of transferring of local and national culture as well as their universal music knowledge such as western music technique, musical note and so on.
