Abstract

Istanbul, which was the capital city of Byzantines for thousand years and has also been considered as a capital of civilization, was the capital of a world civilization “Ottoman Empire” from 1453 to 1920. After the proclamation of the republic of Turkey, it has kept its existence as a center of hybrid of cultures and civilizations. Istanbul was also the centre of music in Ottoman Empire.
