In this research, it is aimed to determine problem solving skills of children with lower and higher socio-economic level. Also, the impact of gender, the number of siblings, the level of parental education and the age of parents on problem solving skills with higher and lower socioeconomic levels is determined. Children problem solving skills at lower and higher socioeconomic levels The study group of the research depends on 285 children (who continues to the fifth grade of schools that are linked with Ministry of Education located in Çankaya and Mamak district which agreed to participate voluntarily in this study. General screening model, one of quantitative research methods was used to obtain data which is closely related with the aim of the research. As a data collection instrument, developed by the researcher "General Information Form”, to measure problem-solving skills "Problem Solving Inventory" which is developed by Heppner and Peterson (1982) and the reliability and validity study was done by Kardas, Anagün and Yalçınoğlu (2014) are used. In the statistical evaluation of the data, two-way ANOVA was used to determine the effect of some variables on the problem solving skills of the children at lower and upper socioeconomic level. As a result of the research, it was determined that socioeconomic level is effective in problem solving skills. Thus, children with lower socioeconomic status have higher problem solving skills than children with higher socioeconomic status. It was determined that school, gender, number of siblings, mother education level, father education level and mother age variables did not make any difference.
