There is a well-known judgement frequently expressed in the works of Muslim authors: the Western world is undoubtedly powerfull and advanced in science and technology but poor, degenerated and regressed in morality and spirituality. Two consequences can be derived from this judgement: 1) Only the science and technology of the West, not its morality, can be imported; 2) the West is a civilisation of science and technology; whereas the East sublimed thanks to Islam is a civilisation of morality and spirituality. Hence, though the West is advanced in science and technology, it is not superior than the East in morality. Morality and spirituality is a distinguishing mark of the East and hence, in this respect, it is superior than the West. However, the claim that the Muslim East is a civilisation of morality and spirituality to the extent that it can serve as a model for the West is, when it is subjected to the philosophical criticism, quite naive and weak. History of ethics is full of discussions as to which, i

The conditions of the class such as the lighting, population, heating of the class, the efficiency of physical conditions, the board type used in the class, etc. not only affects students, but also affects the attitudes and behaviors of the teacher who is the most efficient person in learning process.. It is expected that because the conditions of the class affects the attitudes and behaviors of the teacher, it raises both the success of him/her directly, and the success of teaching process indirectly. The attitudes of teachers towards learning also affect the behaviors of the teachers, such that the teachers who have positive attitudes lead students to positive attitudes and behaviors, too. The aim of this research is to determine the secondary school teachers’ attitudes towards learning related to their classroom heating, classroom size, physical settings and etc. The research is conducted on 234 male and 222 female teachers (456 teachers in total) in Adıyaman city centre, towns and villages. The independent samples t test and one way Anova test was used via SPSS 20.00 statistical package programme for social science to analyze the data acquired. As a result of the research it can be clearly seen that there are differences in the attitudes of teachers’ towards learning related to classroom conditions. The positive effect of teachers’ gender on attitudes is valued as crucial for the result of the research. That classroom illumination, classroom size and classroom heating affect teachers’ attitude. It has been concluded that there is not any meaningful differences in terms of the gender of the teachers, their professional seniority, the faculty they graduated, the lighting of the class and the type of heating during their teaching process. However, it has been deduced that teachers who have 19 or less students in their class perceive the nature of learning better, are open to learning and have higher expectations about learning. Furthermore, it has been concluded that using interactive whiteboards is helpful for the teachers’ attitudes towards learning and physical conditions must be organized according to the teachers’ perceptions. In general, the classroom conditions affect teachers’ attitudes and it makes it compulsory to improve the classroom and consequently education quality.

The primary objective of the founding cadre of the Turkish Republic in economic field was to increase industrial and agricultural productions of Turkey within a short time and ensure that these productions construct a self sufficient economic structure. For this purpose national forces were attempted to be mobilized. But it was not easy to achieve this objective with the loss of skilled labor caused by long years of war and terrible poverty again caused by war. Therefore, a new economic policy had to be determined according to the new conditions and it had to be implemented without time loss. The first step in this field was holding İzmir Economic Congress. But the desired success could not be achieved with the principles of economic development accepted in this congress. Although the newly established regime gained partial success in industrialization it was dependent to a large extent on foreign industrial products. Turkey was still a predominantly agricultural country. As long as this situation was not changed it was impossible to increase economic development and social welfare there. This negative picture was exacerbated by the World Economic Crisis originated from the United States in 1929. Upon this negative developments Turkey once again was forced to look for new alternatives in the economy, and the First Industrial and the First Agricultural Congress emerged as a result of this search. While the existing problems of industry and agriculture were discussed in these congresses held in 1930 and in 1931, it was also discussed the ways to solve these problems. These congresses are important in terms of production possibilities of Turkish industrial and agricultural sectors, and the variety and quality of production of that period. Considering the decisions taken at these Congresses, it is seen that the decisions were taken into account by the government and they determined the new policies concerning these fields.

Starting with the Tanzimat, effort of sampling western countries influences Turkish Language deeply in science, technology and even in social life. The most epitome of this change is changes in vocabulary. Turkish language having the effects of Arabic and Persian languages which we previously had been living together nearly for millennium come under the influence of especially French and other western languages after reforms. While the period decreases the effect of Arabic and Persian existence, it increases the existence of French and other western languages. With the republic, the move of using equity capitals and bowdlerizing foreign elements increases the number of Turkish-rooted words in general vocabulary. In this paper, the period of change after republic in Turkish language is searched. Therefore, the novels written after proclamation of the republic is treated with the method of document scanning, identified the ones which are educational and analyzed the documents related to terms determining the paradigm which makes possible diachronic language study of those novels. As a result of surveying, It is determined that the Arabic-rooted words such as maarif (education), muallim (teacher), talebe (student) become Turkish over time in the novels which were written in the first years of Republic; the new terms such as professor (professor), doçent (associate professor) or the names of instutions opened newly such as lise (high school), üniversite (university) are borrowed from Western Languages. This case shows us that Turkish language, mainly in Arabic language, gave up using vocabularies belonging to East languages and preferred namings belonging to Western Languages or its own sources.

Is it right in the viewpoint of the Qur’ân and Sunnah to read the Qur’ân without understanding it and to generalize this habit? Is this a good deed or is it a superstitious custom that emerged later on? There is no evidence in the Qur’ân that says that reciting it without understanding it will be rewarded whereas there are a lot of verses in the Qur’ân which point out that it is necessary to understand and apply it in everyday life and the aim of revealing the Qur’ân is this. Although the Prophet (PBUH) and the first three generations understood and applied this aim of the Qur’ân, the successors missed this objective and consciously or unconsciously misleaded it. Though the words used to mean “reading” in the Qur’ân, mean “reading and comprehension”, the conversion of nations who were not Arap and their reading Qur’ân without comprehension, later on caused these words to be understood in the meaning of “reading without comprehension”. Although a lot of traditions have been narrated from the Prophet (PBUH) and his successors about reading Qur’ân, the meaning that was intended in these traditions was, “reading with comprehension”. But atomistic commentators caused these traditions to be misunderstood by quoting the parts of these traditions which they needed for their aims. Although they could not provide a proof from the Qur’ân and Sunnah that reciting the Qur’ân without understanding it is rewarded and although the Prophet (PBUH) and the first three generations blamed the person who recites the Qur’ân without understanding it, the successors of the first three generations, who focused on their culturel and practical ideas, claimed this viewpoint. So, in this article, we will try to find the details of this topic from the Qur’ân and Sunnah and accordingly we will come to a conclusion.

The importance of the countries’ border is eliminated in our globalized world day after day, and thus, shared spots increases. While borders drawn by man have no significance, the importance of weather and climate without borders on human life increased tremendously. States were eager to control climate before, and now they are not seen enthusiastic at all and have begun to give responsibility for each other. Thus, confidence of thinking the superiority established on climate left its place to helplessness and hopelessness as a result of increasing climate change. This responsibility should be imposed on actors rather than wait for them to take responsibility about establishing a global climate change regime, namely establishing rules to ensure minimization of the effects of exacerbated climate change. “Imposing” word could perhaps too strong because there are a lot of factors to being considered when creating international regimes. For example, governments and citizens should not feel limit in their independence. However regime to be established should not threaten economic interests, but it should provide new benefits. At the same time, states must not remain behind the other because of the regime in economic, political or any other competition area. So, if a state thinks that said regime will bring another state more advantages situation than itself, it begins to question the regime and regime can lost its legitimacy for it.
