Even though there are many reasons causing these problems, the most important of these is the fact that adequate education in creating preservation awareness is not given in our country. Since the beginning of 20th century, preserving cultural heritage which has been at agenda at national and international level has become an area on which particularly UNESCO and Counsil of Europe, European Union and other organization focus. Various norms have been set and various methods have been developed towards preserving about this area. Today, museum education forms one of the effective methods in the modern world countries on creating preservation awareness.
The Ottoman Empire lost its lands in the Balkans with the Ottoman-Russian War of 1877-1878 and the Berlin Treaty signed after the war. The states established on those lands followed a policy for removing the traces of Turkish-Islamic culture and civilisation within their borders to establish their national states and to command completely to the lands that they occupied with the effect of Panslavist policy of Russia. For this reason, they compelled Turkish and Muslim people to migrate with massacre during the wartime and with political, financial and social repression during the peacetime. Migrating to the Ottoman Empire in crowds through highway, roadway and railway, hundreds of thousands immigrants were settled in various parts of the country and mostly in Anatolia.
The verse dictionaries are considered as important educational materialswritten by lecturers of Ottoman primary schools and madrasasto support language education. They have provided the Arabic and Persian counterparts of Turkish words, therefore simplifying the learning process of said languages. During the three to five year educational processes of 4-6 year olds verse dictionaries have assumed multiple educational roles in terms of form and content. By including roughly one thousand words from Arabic and Persian, have enriched the vocabulary of the students and simplified the memorization process. Educating the words that make up the poetic language through verses, has not only generated interest from students, but provided them a sense of vocalization, art and aesthetics. Verse dictionaries have shortened the period of reading and understanding a foreign text, and more importantly imparted a knowledge of meaning to the students. First important examples of the below the line Turkish to Arabic-Persian verse dictionary tradition were written by Ahmedî and Ahmed-i Dâ’î of the Germiyanoğlu Palace. The latest example of this tradition was written in 19th Century by Nasuh Efendi of Çemişgezek . In this article we have departed from Tuhfe-i Nushî, which was written in the first years of Ottoman Tanzimat period, and examined the contributions of verse dictionaries to language education in Ottoman education institutions. The possible adaptation and benefits of the langugage learning model to contemporary language education in today’s primary and secondary education institutions are also discussed and Nasuh Efendi of Çemişgezek will be introduced to the academic community.

Westernization desires and effects of the western countries on the rulers of the Ottomon Empire in the last periods were seen nearly the same on the rulers of the founders of the Turkish Republic. The term ‘world civilization’ was frequently viewed as ‘westernization’. Managerial staff, who thought the only way of being a modern civilization means totally westernization, tried to closeness the Turkish public administration to the western countries by reforming with the reports of western experts without caring the real desires of their public. This situation was the same both in the single-party government period and multi - party governments periods. Management of the country had begun with the help of foreign experts of the western countries even in more organised periods. As a result of this efforts the State Planning Organization had been established ( TODAİE), which boasts of having very usefull studies for both centeral government and local governments and founded by United Nations (UN) for under developed countries, had been established by the winner countries of the second World War. The effects of western countries on Turkish public administration have risen by the increasing effects of globalization and liberal practices have been applied without caring the public desires by both central and local governments. Beyond being only advisers or recommenders, western countries have became on looking countries with some of their administrative units for Turkish public administration

The purpose of this study is to analyze works of Traditional Turkish Music (TTM) origin in primary education music textbooks with respect to “maqam” (a type of melodic mode system), “usûl” (a type of rhythmic cycle), and style and determine to what extend these play role in conveying the cultural heritage. The data set and sample of the research consists of songs and anonym folk songs that are composed/created with a maqam mode and are found in all course levels of primary school teacher guides and student workbooks, which are accepted as educational tools by the Ministry of Education Turkish Education Board. According to this, while there was a clear unbalance in the quantitative distribution of works of TTM origin that were available in primary school music textbooks; in terms of maqams, all the primary education process was based on the “Segâh”, “Hüseyni”, “Uşşak”, “Nihavend”, “Rast”, “Mâhur”, “Gerdâniye”, “Hicaz”, and “Acem Kürdi” maqams. An important finding of the study is that the “Uşşak-Hüseyni” family was, by far, distinctly prominent in these, which proves the deficiency of maqam

Social Studies courses which were taught in middle schools since the 1973-1974 academic year in Turkey were removed as of the 1985-1986 academic year, and National History, National Geography, and Civics courses began to be taught instead of them. After compulsory basic education had been increased to eight years in 1997, the weekly course schedules and the curriculum of primary education schools were rearranged. As a part of these regulations, National History and National Geography courses which were taught in middle schools were removed, and Social Studies course began to be taught in the 4th and 7th grades of primary education schools for three hours per week as of the 1998-1999 aca-demic year. The objective of this study is to reveal the effect of teaching Social Studies course instead of National History course on history teaching at the primary education level along with the dimension of the program. As a result of the study in which general survey model and document analysis method were used, it was understood that the coverage given to the subjects related to Turkish culture and civilization and the coverage given to the Anatolian civilizations, ancient civilizations, and European history were extended although there was a slight decrease in the number of Turkish states included in the Social Studies course curriculum which was taught instead of National History course. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the fact that Social Studies course began to be taught in middle schools by removing National History courses did not create a comprehension change in history teaching at primary education level, and the national and Turkish history centered approach that began with the National History course program in history teaching in primary education and the structure of the subject based on Turkish-Islamic synthesis continued also in this program. Therefore, it is possible to consider the primary education Social Studies curriculum as a logical continuation of the National History course curriculum which was applied before it.

Today they mostly live in Vilnius, Troki (Trakai) and Panevez in Poland; in Lutsk and Khalich in Ukraine; Simferopol in Crimea; and in Istanbul in Turkey. The number of the Karais who know and speak their own language is quite few. The language of the Karais, who do not have their own country, nor an autonomous region and an official language, is in threat of extinction and so are they. Today, Lithuania, Poland, Crimea and Istanbul are the palces where the Karais live densely. They have 3 relatively differentiated dialects, mostly shaped in Crimea. In Turkic languages, the function of advertive can be formed by some sentence structures as well as structures with helping verbs. In Turkish, both –(y)Ayaz-, in the form of {V1-gerund suffix V2} and {F-(I)yordu/-(y)AcAktI} following “ ... az kalsın / az daha / neredeyse” express that the action has not been realized but was very close: Bacağı kırılayazdı (His leg was nearly broken). Az kalsın düşüyordum (I almost fell down). Az kalsın düşecektim (I almost fell down), etc. In this paper, the advertive formed only in {V1-gerund suffix V2} structure has been studied. The structures having this function in the other contemporary Turkic literary languages have been given in the gerunds or helping verbs parts. For this function the forms of the yaz- verb in the languages mentioned have been used. The {V1-(y)A/U yaz-} structure can be traced from the 11th century onwards. Although advertive verb has not been shown in the current studies, we have seen sentences in the texts we investigated in which advertive helping verb has been used. For this function the verb has been used. The structure is {-(y)A éz-}.

As there are positive factors promoting scientific development, there are also factors that may affect productivity negatively in universities which train qualified manpower and develop scientific knowledge. The term defined as “academic inbreeding" in foreign literature is known as one of the factors that adversely affects productivity and scientific success in academia. In case of recurrence of such a situation in the process, it may damage the scientific productivity, so this term has been discussed and opposed against by academicians recently. Academic inbreeding is seen as a major obstacle in forming environments where can occur original works, do qualified opinion discussions, gain different perspectives in the universities that are responsible for producing knowledge, being open to new ideas, transmit scientific knowledge to future generations. The aim of this research is to present a conceptual and analytic framework based on the term “academic inbreeding” which doesn’t have equivalent in Turkish. In this study, the term that is called “academic inbreeding” in English is translated as “akademik vesayet” into Turkish. The term “academic inbreeding is defined as the practice of having PhDs employed by the university that trained them. Although the international literature on academic inbreeding is quite developed, this term has been analyzed in few studies in Turkey.
It can be clearly said that one of the basic component of political communication is language and use of this language. It is known that the effective use of the language requires not only the humor well know but also the use of its time and place. On the other hand, extravagant, timeless and uncorrelated with context use of humor can adversely affect the credibility and authority of the leader. Humor is an element that comforts community and removes tensions in a society. With this feature, the humor is a significant and useful expression method. Nevertheless, making humor requires the democratic maturity, tolerance, and respect. Hence, if a political leader can make humor in a society, it is an important indicator of the democratic development of society. Furthermore, that the political leaders communicate by using humor is crucial in terms of the effectiveness of the message that was given and sustainability in mind. Therefore, in this study, it will be handled the prominence, etched into the memory and vintage humor of the president of a political party, prime ministers and presidents. Also, it will be focused at what time and for what purpose they give place humor. It is impossible to handle the humor of all political leaders in the Turkish political life. So, this article is limited to humorous discourse that marked the political life of Turkey, evergreen and located in memories. Within the framework of the flow of the article, it will be primarily made statements about what is humor. After that, theoretical approaches about humor, laughter and comedy will be discussed. After making explanations about the use of humor in political communication, it will be examined with examples how and for what purpose political leaders use the humor.

The Washington Naval Conference was the result of various developments emerged in Far East and Pacific while the First World War was going on and after the end of it. While the First World War was continuing, by benefiting from the fact that great powers engaged with the war, Japan captured the certain parts of the Far East and it attained political and economic influence particularly on China. On exerting this influence, Japan was taking heart from a treaty of alliance signed with England in 1902. Japan’s this expansionist policy led to the fast growing armament rivalry between USA and Japan in Pacific after USA involved into the war in 1917 and this brought considerable burden to the economies of the both parties. Through the suggestion of USA, by holding a conference in Washington that major countries would attend, it was aimed at both putting an end to armament rivalry and clearing up the problems in Far East. At the Washington Naval Conference held between 12 November 1921 and 6 February 1922, two distinct issues; namely “the Restriction of Naval Weapons” and “the Matter of Far East Concerning China” were debated. These issues brought up in different sessions in the manner of one inside the other. While USA, England, France, Italy and Japan participated to the negotiations of the naval weapon detections; USA, England, China, France, Belgium, Italy, Japan, Portuguese and the Netherland attended to the negotiations dealing with the matter of Far East. Thus, Anglo-Japanese Alliance lasting for four years since 1902 was concluded by “Four- Power Treaty” and by the treaty gone down in history as “Nine-Power Treaty” territorial and administrative integrity of China were recognized by other countries and it was given as a commitment that every foreign country which had interest in Asia would have equal economic and commercial right. By the signing of “the Washington Naval Conference” on 6 February 1922, the number and the ratio of the navy vessels and aircraft carriers were determined.

The number of interdisciplinary studies on social sciences has been increasing recently. In the present study, Cahit Zarifoğlu’s novel called “Savaş Ritimleri” is examined by employing discourse analysis method especially used in Sociology and Communication fields. The author is focused on social issues with his own perspective. He reflects his views on the literary work by going through different ways, which is generally and often observed in literary works centering on historical and political issues. Zarifoğlu is interested in invasion of Afghanistan by USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). While he tells about the liberation battle, he composes his own discourse through his own views and ideology. As the novel is based on actual events, the author gives clues about his discourse in the novel. In the current study, it is attempted to investigate the discourse presented in Zarifoğlu’s novel via Gee’s discourse analysis method. According to this method, the discourse of the author in the novel has been examined under three titles. The present literary work has been scrutinized under twenty-seven subtitles led by titles which are called style analysis, semantic analysis and linguistic analysis. Regarding the style analysis, the tools that are used while the author composes his discourse are put forward and it is correlated to novel’s fictional structure. As for semantic analysis, semantic relations that create discourse are explained by considering structural elements. Finally, with respect to linguistic analysis, the words that the author has specifically selected to use and the structures that the author has chosen are presented explicitly. The main purpose of the present paper is to indicate the fact that the discourse analysis is one of the most effective methods for literary work analysis and for being understood by the readers.

The basis of scientific research is based on analysis and synthesis. The literary texts are not alone and independent like all analysis and synthesis which are not independent. Every text has similarities and proximities with the text written in their period or earlier periods in terms of word, content, type, and narrative features. Every literary text emerges naturally from a particular culture. This case denotes each text includes the other texts in terms of common culture. As a result, the term of intertextuality arises. In this study primarily, the concept of intertextuality is defined and its effects to literature is examined then the way of the concept is studied. This method is an old research methods as the history of literature. Feridüddin Attar has begun a tradition in this area by writing Mantıku’t-Tayr. After this work, many mesnevi regarding birds are written. Feridüddin Attar's Mantıku’t-Tayr were examined in terms of intertextuality. Mann Whitney U test has been used in comparing the binary groups, while Kruskal-Wallis test has been utilized in comparing the groups more than two. Teacher candidates have expressed their opinions that “I often use metacognitive reading strategies”. Whereas there has been detected a significant difference among metacognitive reading strategies and their sex, types of books that are read, frequency of book reading and keeping books at home, there has been found no significant difference among the departments they study in, their class levels and score type for university entrance.
