Abstract

After the tragic end of Democratic Party Government Turkey entered a new era with its allies. In this new era, Turkey’s responsibilities and obligations of NATO membership has not been quitely changed. In the Cold War years, Turkey still continues its stability on foreign policy. U.S. response to the threat of the Soviet Union were standing with Turkey against the any of Soviet intervention. This promise and NATO defense systems against Soviet Union were built a barrier through between Turkey and Soviet Union. As a result of these alliances Turkish-Soviet relations were freezed for years. 1974 Turkish Military intervention on Cyprus, the relations between Turkey - NATO and Turkey - USA became a troubled alliance but after the intervention the relations between both sides turned back to the regular orbit. Turkish emphasis on this issue were understood by both alliances of Turkey. The effects of the letter of President Johnson and the embargo caused some problems on Turkish-American relations but any serious crisis was occured. United States Goverments worried about Turkish-Soviet relations in the period of Cold War. Beacuse of this anxious, most of incidents ended by a commonsense.
