Abstract

Input - Output analyzes are one of the most important economic analysis tools used to identify relations between production and consumption in an economy and between any sector of the economy and sectors. With the help of input - output analyzes, an economic map of a province, region or country is revealed. Thus, sectoral relations, key industries and investment fields that will provide the necessary ground for development can be determined accurately. When the planning studies in Turkey are examined, it is noteworthy that the selected places for the plan are mostly concentrated on the national, regional and sub-regions while the local-based studies are neglected. The main target of this study is to analyse the socio-economic structure of Igdır, through the Input-Output model. It is aimed to provide the economic indicators needed in the socio-economic development process of Iğdır and to establish a local plan application example which is lacking at spatial level. For that reason, businesses in the current industries of Igdır which were chosen according to the method of stratified sampling have been conducted a questionnaire and Input-Output tables are formed thanks to the data obtained. From these tables, the input coefficient tables of Iğdır were prepared by obtaining input matrix coefficients, Leontief matrix, Leontief inverse matrix, industrial direct and total forward and backward connection effects. In addition, key industries in Iğdır have been identified and analysis of production, employment and income multipliers has been carried out which has an important place in the planning process.
