One of the arguments in Turkish press from time to time about Tevfik Fikret occured from news in Yeni Sabah in 1939. According to the news saying Aşiyan would be bought by Americans, two letters for and against Fikret and a survey of “Shall we put up a statue in honour of Fikret or burn his Works?” developed the argument. The answers of survey taken from the leading artists of the era, others periodical writers accepting or refusing them caused to bring up Akif-Fikret arguments again and to extent content of the survey. In this study the argument is criticized with its extent and length by giving thoughts and feelings of writers and poets involved in it.
