Abstract

The purpose of the study is to examine the relation between the metacognitive behaviours demonstrated by sixth grade students in elementary school, in their problem solving process with collaborative learning groups and their level of mathematical self-efficacy. The study group of the research is composed of four sixth grade students of an elementary school in European Side of Istanbul province. Among these students, two has high mathematical self-efficacy and the other two has low mathematical self-efficacy. The study lasted totally 6 course hours (240 min) including the preparation and implementation period. Details regarding the method to execute preparation and implementation processes were planned together by researchers and the researcher who is an elementary education teacher implemented the planned process in classroom environment.
