Abstract

The history of studies on literature theory almost stretches away to history of written literature. On the one hand poets, novelist and litterateurs are in struggle for producing art, ont the other hand they produce theoricü studies trying to explain artwork’s context, structure, technique and texture. The most important one of these theoric studies is poetica that has gained different meanings throughout the history. In the beginnig, with reference to Aristotle’s Poetics which is the first of this genre, poetic studies have been based on exposing basic features and components of tragedy and epic genres: afterwars, they are limited with poetry. Poetica concept which has crystalized especially after 19th century turns into an information genre examined the subjects including poetry in general meaning, its from, content, style and aesthetic without depending on a certain type. In this respect, many poets have written poeticas reflecting their perception and opinions about poetry. These poeticas sometimes appear in verse because of willing of poets to express their opinions via poems, and sometimes appear in prose for constituting a theoric frame. In this theoric context, Veysel Çolak who is one of the significant authors of Modern Turkish Poetry contributes to poetica repertory with a didactic work. In his work, named Şiir nedir ve nasıl yazılır, under the influence of his educator identity Veysel Çolak produces a poetic text highlighted with distinct, regular and didactic dimension. From this respect, text takes a different place from many poetica works produced in Turkish Poetry tradition, and Veysel Çolak acts from definable and teachable notion of poem. He describes his ideas about poem’s content, structure, relation with actual, writing process and how it can be read and taken by reader, through concrete examples and practices
