Its existence, especially after the collapse of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) means more than a simple survival case because its transformation reflects the cyclical changes in the international system, which are reincarnated as NATO’s legitimate structural changes. In this context, constructivist theory that attempts to explain the functioning of international relations with focus on the concepts of anarchy, interest, system, structure and institution, embodies key points for understanding and analyzing this organizational transformation. Thus, in this article, there are two main parts that explain the transformation of NATO with a contructivist perspective. In the first part, NATO's theoretical context and conceptual transformation are examined through the explanation of the adaptation of NATO's Strategic Concepts and their influences on NATO's military structure. For each part, a historical structure is followed by analyzing these developments before and after the end of the Cold War, which plays a significant role in the transformation of NATO. In the second part, NATO’s cooperation and enlargement are examined in order to reflect constructivist aspects within NATO activities. In this context, NATO's internal relations, acceptance of new members and NATO’s cooperation with other international organizations such as the United Nations and the European Union are assessed.},author={Özden Selcen Özmelek},year={2017},journal={The Journal of Academic Social Science Studies}}
