Societies need people who are peaceful, humanist and tolerant; obey the social rules and are capable of communicating with other individuals in a healthy way increasingly with each passing day. It’s surely beyond doubt that in today’s world where societies are constantly competing with both themselves and each other, their level of information and technology puts them ahead of the others. Yet, these features are not considered sufficient enough to keep the society together. Besides that, it is expected from the individuals to live on their national and moral values which form their own identities. It can be suggested that art education, which has a distinctive function in general education and is necessary to be handled ratherly by aiming at improving individuals’ affective skills, has a crucial place in teaching values. Being an applied branch, in art education, it is very important that teachers concentrate on the studies which they will customize for the learners to recognize their own history and cultural values. In addition to that, it is significant to discuss the subjects within the frame of some beneficial concepts such as sharing, empathy, tolerance and cooperation in order to add values to the individuals with the help of art education. Meeting individuals' emotional and mental experience needs, art education is also a very important source of sensibility and morality. It should not be forgotten that teaching values to individuals cannot be provided only through cognitive process. It should be put not only in the individuals' brains but also in their hearts.
