TRANSLATION EQUIVALENCE OF LANGUAGE PLAYS IN TURKISH TRANSLATION OF PATRICK SÜSKIND’S NOVEL “DAS PARFUM” PATRICK SÜSKIND’İN “KOKU” ADLI ROMANININ TÜRKÇE ÇEVİRİSİNDE DİL OYUNLARI EŞDEĞERLİĞݹ
The aim of this study is to analyze the translation equivalence of language plays in Turkish translation of Patrick Süskind’s novel “Das Parfum”. While analysing some parts of the novel, the translation was found fairly succesfull in the linguistic and denotativ level but some translation equivalence problems occur in the transfer of language plays. The reason of these equivalence problems is word for word translations from source language to target language. Some suggestions to solve these equivalence problems were made by taking into account the dependence on context and characteristics of target language.
